İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, operated by TAV Airports, welcomed SunExpress flights from Barcelona and Venice. On the afternoon of June 4, 153 passengers from Barcelona and 54 passengers from Venice arrived in İzmir. Passengers were greeted with flowers at the terminal.
SunExpress will operate round-trip flights between İzmir and Barcelona every Sunday until September 24. Direct flights between İzmir and Venice will continue twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays until September 27.
Erkan Balcı, General Manager of TAV Ege, stated: “We are delighted to welcome the first direct flights from Barcelona and Venice to İzmir in five years. We are working with our partners to increase the number of destinations with direct access to İzmir and to promote our city. Currently, our airport serves 32 airlines to 58 international destinations across 33 countries, and 4 airlines to 20 domestic destinations. We are ready to welcome guests from all over the world this summer season.”
İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport served 2,777,462 passengers in the first four months of the year, a 17% increase compared to the same period last year. During the same period, international traffic rose by 32%.
