
İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, operated by TAV Airports, welcomed Wizz Air’s inaugural flight from Bucharest yesterday (June 28). The W4 3125 flight, operated with an Airbus A321 aircraft, brought 200 passengers to İzmir, who were greeted with flowers at the terminal. Wizz Air will operate direct flights between İzmir and Bucharest three times a week—on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays—until October 20, 2024.
Erkan Balcı, General Manager of TAV Ege, expressed his delight: “We are pleased to see the resumption of direct flights between İzmir and Bucharest after five years. We are working with our stakeholders to connect İzmir directly to destinations worldwide and look forward to welcoming passengers from around the globe.”
İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport currently serves flights to 73 destinations in 38 countries with 42 airlines. In the first five months of 2024, the airport handled 1.3 million international passengers, marking a 31% increase compared to the same period last year. The total number of passengers rose by 15%, reaching 4.1 million.
