Flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport (ISG) to Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, began on June 27. Pegasus Airlines’ new international route to Edinburgh will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. By the last week of July, the frequency of flights is expected to increase to four times per week.

This new route marks the 7th international destination launched by Pegasus Airlines in 2024. Previously, new routes were launched to Zagreb (ZAG) in Croatia, Sphinx (SPX) in Egypt, Aktau (SCO) in Kazakhstan, Sofia (SOF) in Bulgaria, Chișinău (RMO) in Moldova, and Bratislava (BTS) in Slovakia.

With this development, ISG now connects to 164 destinations, including 40 domestic and 124 international routes across 54 countries.

“The United Kingdom has always ranked among the top 5 countries in terms of passenger volume,” said Alp Er Tunga Ersoy, CEO of ISG. “There are strong historical ties, economic relationships, and significant tourism partnerships between the two countries. Last year, Turkey hosted about 4 million tourists from the United Kingdom. The trade volume between Turkey and the United Kingdom reached 19.5 billion dollars in 2023. We expect this new route to further strengthen the existing warm relationships, enhance collaboration opportunities, and bring an additional 21,000 international passengers to our airport in the remainder of the year.”

Pegasus Airlines CEO Güliz Öztürk also stated, “With every new route we launch, we make a significant contribution to Turkey’s tourism potential. We are pleased to take this mission a step further with our direct flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Edinburgh. As we expand our network, we will continue to connect Turkey with other countries, both culturally and economically.”
