18 million tourists came to Turkey in 5 months

According to the data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 15,784,213 of the visitors to Turkey were foreigners. According to the statistics for Turkish citizens residing abroad from January to March, 2,024,865 Turkish citizens visited Turkey.

Thus, the total number of visitors reached 17,809,078. In May 2024, the number of foreign visitors to Turkey increased by 14% compared to the same month of the previous year, amounting to 5,130,119. From January to May, the number of foreign visitors increased by 12.47% compared to the same period of the previous year.

MOST TOURISTS FROM JANUARY TO MAY CAME FROM GERMANY

In May, the Russian Federation was the top country sending visitors to Turkey, with an increase of 15.32% and 739,017 visitors. Germany sent 729,505 visitors, an increase of 18.12%, while the United Kingdom was third with an increase of 21.62% and 550,592 visitors. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and Poland.

In the first five months of this year, Germany was the leading country sending visitors to Turkey, with an increase of 16.20% and 1,122,930 visitors. The Russian Federation was second with 1,078,294 visitors, and Iran was third with an increase of 51.78% and 946,437 visitors. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and the United Kingdom.
