An Adventure from Historic Migration Routes to Mountain Trails Alanya Ultra Trail – March 27–28, 2026

Set to take place on March 27–28 in the Mediterranean resort city of Alanya, the sixth edition of Alanya Ultra Trail promises participants an unforgettable adventure stretching from the Mediterranean’s spectacular coastline to the cool highlands of the Taurus Mountains. Known for its crystal-clear sea, historic atmosphere, and rich cultural heritage, Alanya is preparing to welcome running enthusiasts from around the world.

Having hosted five different civilizations throughout history, Alanya offers a unique geography where traces of the past remain visible today. The event is therefore not only a race but also a nostalgic journey that allows participants to discover the city’s historical landmarks and natural beauty.

Five Routes, One Legendary Race

With routes suitable for athletes of all levels, Alanya Ultra Trail takes runners on a journey from Mediterranean shores to pine forests, mountain peaks, and ancient trails—offering ever-changing landscapes and climates along the way.

Participants can compete across five different courses:

  • 68K Alanya Ultra Trail
  • 42K Taurus Mountain Trail
  • 27K Keykubat Mountain Run
  • 18K Cleopatra Short Trail
  • 5K Alanya Castle Run

The routes stretch from the Taurus Mountains down to the Mediterranean coast and Cleopatra Beach, reaching elevations of up to 1,515 meters above sea level.

A Journey Through History Starting at Cleopatra Beach

The race begins at Cleopatra Beach, one of the Mediterranean’s most famous beaches, known for its unique sand and world-renowned waters. From here, the course quickly leads runners into the historic heart of Alanya.

Routes Passing Through Historic Landmarks

Runners will pass through the walls of Alanya Castle, one of the most important architectural legacies of the Seljuk period, offering participants a close-up experience of 13th-century heritage. Historic sites such as Tophane District, Kızılkule, Alanya Shipyard, and Bedesten form some of the most impressive stages of the course.

Trails Extending into the Taurus Mountains

As the routes climb higher, the warm Mediterranean climate gradually gives way to pine forests, cool highlands, and sweeping mountain panoramas. Participants will discover both the natural beauty of the Taurus Mountains and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.

Ancient Roads and Nomadic Migration Paths

Some of the trails in the Taurus Mountains follow historic routes such as ancient Roman caravan roads and traditional migration paths used by the Yörüks. These ancient pathways still carry the traces of centuries-old trade and nomadic life.

Mahmutseydi Village: History and Tradition

Located on the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, Mahmutseydi Village stands out as one of the most special points along the route with its historical heritage dating back to the Seljuk period and its preserved traditional lifestyle.

Agriculture and Gastronomy: Flavors Unique to Alanya

Beyond tourism, Alanya is also known for its fertile lands and strong agricultural tradition. The city is one of Türkiye’s leading centers for banana production, while crops such as avocados, mangoes, dragon fruit, citrus fruits, and olives are also widely grown.

During the race, participants will pass through banana plantations, tropical fruit fields, citrus groves, and olive orchards, offering a close look at Alanya’s agricultural richness.

Local cuisine also adds another dimension to the experience. Traditional dishes such as Gülüklü Soup, Tahinli Piyaz, Şebit, Laba Dolması, Tarator, and Öksüz Helvası introduce participants to the distinctive flavors of Mediterranean and Yörük cuisine.

Bringing together nature, history, culture, and gastronomy, Alanya Ultra Trail offers a multi-dimensional experience for participants.
