They flocked to Uludağ during the semester break. Uludağ, one of Turkey’s leading ski and winter tourism centers, is hosting ski enthusiasts from all over Turkey due to the semester holiday.
Uludağ, where the snow depth was measured at 68 centimeters, was swarmed by families and day-trippers taking advantage of the mid-term break. Local and foreign tourists who came to the slopes in the Hotels Region skied and snowboarded. Children enjoyed sledding and playing snowball fights with their families.
The slopes, primarily filled by day-trippers, saw some visitors learning to ski with the help of instructors. Sinan Karababa, who came on holiday from Istanbul, mentioned that he had visited Uludağ 3-4 times before, saying, ‘We came for the day today and will return in the evening. It is much more crowded now compared to previous years. Winter tourism has really picked up and become active in our country.
There is a high demand. I am very pleased. We try to ski from the peak, even if we fall. We are skiing enjoyably.’ Atlas Arıcan, a third-grade elementary student, said that he came to Uludağ with his family right after receiving his report card, explaining, ‘Uludağ is very beautiful. I learned a bit about skiing but I don’t know how to stop yet. I also need to learn a bit about changing direction. It’s a bit crowded today. It’s going very well.’ Soner Yılmaz also mentioned that it was his first time in Uludağ, and it was his first attempt at skiing, but it was very difficult. Yılmaz, who tried to learn skiing on his own, said, ‘I came with two friends from Istanbul. They are more experienced in this area. They left me behind because I kept falling. I was left alone here. Uludağ is very enjoyable. I generally love Bursa, but this is my first time in Uludağ, and I am trying to explore.’
