Summer 2026 tourism expectations: Latest outlook in Turkey
Turkey’s tourism sector is entering a dynamic period ahead of the summer season, driven by rising demand and accelerating reservations. Industry representatives note that interest in the 2026 season has started earlier than last year, while prices are trending upward due to cost pressures.
Reservations start early, occupancy rates picking up
Key destinations, particularly along the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, are seeing a notable increase in early bookings. According to sector data, a significant portion of summer reservations has already been secured.
Following an estimated 56 million visitors and $60 billion in tourism revenue in 2025, Turkey is targeting around 65 million visitors and $70 billion in revenue for 2026. These expectations are contributing to strong pre-season demand.
Industry voices: Strong demand, early momentum
Tourism professionals highlight that demand, particularly from European markets, remains stable and robust. The growing trend toward early booking is seen as a strong indicator of a successful season ahead.
“Earlier reservations suggest a high-demand season not only in coastal regions but also across alternative destinations,” industry representatives note.
Is Türkiye becoming expensive? Prices on the rise
Prices in accommodation and transportation are trending upward, largely driven by increases in energy, labor, and operational costs. Industry-wide, double-digit price increases are being observed.
Despite rising costs, demand remains resilient, indicating that price increases have not significantly slowed booking activity.
Tourism activity spreads across the country
Beyond coastal tourism, destinations such as Cappadocia, the Black Sea region, and Southeastern Anatolia are also experiencing increased activity with the arrival of spring.
Growing interest in cultural, nature-based, and experience-driven travel is helping to distribute tourism demand more evenly across the country.
