Turkish holidaymakers chose Egypt for Ramadan Bayram

Due to the Turkey-Egypt rapprochement and the visa-free entry to Sharm El Sheikh, Turks flocked to Egypt during Ramadan Bayram. Visits to the country tripled compared to last year.

Rixos Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada, two of Egypt’s most popular holiday resorts, became the focal point for Turkish tourists during this Bayram. Sharm El Sheikh, which offers visa-free access, and Hurghada, which has easy visa-on-arrival procedures, are preferred routes due to their more affordable prices compared to Turkey. These destinations, with their attractions and natural beauty, leave visitors in awe.

‘We hosted 2,000 Turkish guests during the Bayram holiday’

Erkan Yıldırım, CEO of Rixos Egypt Hotels, shared that they hosted 2,000 Turkish guests during the Bayram holiday. He stated, “With Rixos’ renowned quality service and the more affordable pricing of Egypt, it has become one of the preferred vacation spots for Turkish tourists. ‘Proximity is a key reason for preference’

Highlighting the importance of proximity, Erkan Yıldırım said, “You can reach Sharm El Sheikh from Istanbul in just 2 hours and 15 minutes. This year, there are also direct flights from Antalya and Ankara to Sharm El Sheikh, with flight times of 1 hour and 30 minutes from Antalya and 2 hours from Ankara. The favorable climate and sea conditions throughout the year are one of the main reasons for preference. After a short flight, our guests can reach our hotels, which are just a 10-minute drive from the airport.”

During the Bayram period, famous Turkish TV and movie actor Erkan Kolçak Köstendil performed his solo play “12th Man” for Turkish holidaymakers. The special performance, attended by 500 people, featured the successful actor portraying a goalkeeper who spent many years in the same team. In the 90-minute solo play, he reflected on his past, his experiences, choices, and life, engaging with the audience in a thought-provoking way. Turkish guests staying at the hotel were captivated by the actor’s performance.”
