Flights from Sabiha Gökçen to Cairo have started with Air Arabia Egypt

Starting from April 6, in collaboration with Air Arabia Egypt, flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) and Cairo (CAI) will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with mutual frequencies.

Flights from Sabiha Gökçen to Cairo have started with Air Arabia Egypt

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport is diversifying the travel experience to the world’s top destinations with new partnerships. Most recently, in collaboration with Air Arabia Egypt, flights between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) and Cairo (CAI) began on April 6, with three weekly frequencies operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

As Turkey’s second-largest airport, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (ISG) International Airport has added Air Arabia Egypt to its short-haul routes to Cairo.

The first flight between Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) and Cairo (CAI) took place on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The Airbus A320 aircraft, which operated the inaugural flight, was welcomed with a water salute at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.

A ceremony was held to celebrate the inaugural flight of Air Arabia Egypt, with the participation of Nuket Angın, Air Arabia’s Regional Manager for Eastern Europe, and senior management from ISG. The cabin crew and passengers were greeted with flowers, and guests were offered Turkish delight.

Air Arabia Egypt became the 47th airline to join the Sabiha Gökçen Airport network. The SAW-CAI flights will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Air Arabia Egypt is the fourth airline to operate flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen to Egypt, and it is also the fourth Air Arabia Group company to be hosted at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. With direct flights starting from Cairo, the number of cities Air Arabia operates to from Istanbul has now increased to six. In addition to flights to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in the UAE, and Casablanca, Tangier, and Fez in Morocco, direct flights to Cairo have now also commenced.

With the opening of its second runway, Sabiha Gökçen has increased its capacity and currently serves a total of 167 destinations in 55 countries, with 40 domestic and 127 international connections. Under the motto ‘The Airport of the City,’ Sabiha Gökçen provides access from Istanbul to many destinations within Turkey and across the world. Since the beginning of 2024, the airport has opened 7 new international routes.
