With only a few days left before the Ramadan Feast, citizens wishing to spend the 9-day holiday in their hometowns or holiday destinations have created a crowd at Istanbul Airport from the early hours of the morning.
After the announcement that the Ramadan Feast holiday would last for 9 days, citizens who planned to spend the holiday outside the city started arriving at Istanbul Airport early in the morning. Those who will spend the 9-day holiday outside of Istanbul caused occasional congestion at the airport.
To prevent passengers from being inconvenienced during the busy period, the Istanbul Airport operator, IGA, took measures by directing passengers at the airport entrance and terminal. After passing through security checks, passengers lined up at the check-in counters for both domestic and international flights to complete ticket and luggage procedures. Long queues were particularly observed at the domestic counters and passport control.
Fırat Mutlu, who said he would spend the holiday with his family, shared, “I work in Istanbul and I’m going to Adana. I used to go there frequently. I’ll spend time with my family and loved ones. I haven’t been able to spend the holiday with them for a while, so I dedicated this one to them. I had delayed buying the ticket, so I had difficulty finding one. As for ticket prices, I think I paid a little more than usual. The election process was just over. I wish everyone a happy and peaceful holiday with their family and loved ones.”
Eren Altay, a university student in Istanbul, mentioned that he would spend the holiday in Mardin and said, “I hope this holiday will be a good one. Since I had difficulty finding a ticket, I brought my return from the holiday forward. That’s why I’ll be able to stay in Mardin for 7 days.
