The massive ship, built in Finland in 900 days, has a capacity to carry approximately 10,000 passengers and crew.
Everything has been thoughtfully designed to ensure that no one gets bored during long voyages. The ship features 7 swimming pools, an artificial lake, 6 water slides, a Ferris wheel, and more than 40 restaurants and bars.
If that’s not enough, a team of 50 musicians and comedians is also on board, ready to entertain passengers.
The massive ship, which cost $2 billion to build, was at the center of environmental debates even before its maiden voyage.
The operating company claims that despite its size, the ‘Icon of the Seas’ is more environmentally friendly than similar cruise ships.
However, environmental organizations disagree, pointing out that the ship runs on liquefied natural gas. On its maiden voyage, the ship will embark on a seven-day tour of the eastern Caribbean with thousands of passengers.
