According to data announced by the online travel platform turna.com, the most expensive flight ticket of 2023 was sold for the Istanbul – New York route at 156,532 TL. The cheapest flight ticket was found for the Izmir – Trabzon route at 249 TL. The cheapest flight tickets were sold in February, March, and April, while the most favored cities in the country once again were Antalya and Izmir.
Having just left behind a busy year for the global economy, the travel industry’s 2023 report card has been announced. Turna.com, the online travel platform, published its travel report based on user behaviors. Dr. Kadir Kırmızı, General Manager of turna.com, emphasized that travel trends changed faster compared to previous years and mentioned that they continue to work on fast and effective solutions to meet the needs of the digitalizing sector and focus on enhancing the travel experience.
The most expensive flight ticket in 2023 was sold for 156,532 TL
According to turna.com’s 2023 travel report, the year’s most expensive flight ticket was sold for a round-trip Istanbul – New York flight at 156,532 TL. The most expensive one-way international flight ticket was sold for the Kuala Lumpur – Istanbul route at 93,653 TL. Domestically, the most expensive one-way flight ticket was sold for the Gaziantep – Izmir route at 8,899 TL, and the most expensive round-trip ticket was for the Istanbul – Antalya route at 9,241 TL.
The cheapest flight tickets were sold in February, March, and April
According to turna.com’s report, the cheapest international flight ticket of the year was sold for the Istanbul – Tehran route. The one-way ticket was sold for 263 TL, and the round-trip ticket for 1,418 TL. Domestically, the cheapest one-way flight ticket was sold for the Izmir – Trabzon route at 249 TL, and the cheapest domestic round-trip ticket was the Antalya – Izmir ticket, sold for 598 TL.
Travelers flew the most in May for domestic flights and in June for international flights. The cheapest months to fly were February, March, and April, while the most expensive periods were September for domestic flights and August for international flights.
The most beloved cities were again Antalya and Izmir
Turna.com’s 2023 flight ticket sales data included in the travel report showed Antalya and Izmir maintaining their popularity, with Trabzon added to the list of favored cities. The ranking was followed by Istanbul, Adana, Gaziantep, and Diyarbakır. Internationally, Tehran and Baku were again at the top, with Moscow ranking as the third most favored city, followed by Tashkent and Berlin.
In 2023, students flew the most to Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Adana, and Diyarbakır for domestic flights; and to Baku, Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Cologne for international flights. Couples and families with children preferred Istanbul for domestic flights, while Tehran was the choice for international flights. The over-65 age group flew most frequently to Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara domestically; and to Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, and Hamburg internationally.
