Dubai has once again been selected as the world’s number one destination in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best Destinations Awards, marking its third consecutive victory and becoming the first city to achieve this milestone.

The award is based on the quality and quantity of consumer reviews for hotels, restaurants, and experiences. This latest accolade adds to Dubai’s string of global achievements; the city was previously named the best city to move to and the best city for remote workers.

The international acclaim for Dubai was announced at the 2024 Travellers’ Choice Best Destinations Awards by Tripadvisor, the leading travel guide platform. The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award is selected based on millions of reviews from the Tripadvisor community. The awards consider the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants, and experiences in each destination from October 1, 2022, to September 30, 2023.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, commented on the achievement, “Dubai being named the number one destination in the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best Destinations Awards for the third consecutive year was made possible through the extraordinary efforts of our public and private stakeholders and partners, and their strong response to Dubai’s vision.”

This prestigious award further cements Dubai’s status as a global success story. In 2023, the city was ranked by financial services provider Remitly as the best city to move to and was listed in the top 20 of the 2023 Executive Nomadic Index by real estate consultancy Savills as the best city for remote workers. Dubai was also ranked as the world’s second-best city destination by Euromonitor International’s 2023 Top 100 City Destinations Index and appeared in the top 10 of the Global Power City Index published by the Mori Memorial Foundation’s Institute for Urban Strategies in Japan. Additionally, the United Arab Emirates was ranked as the world’s second safest country according to Numbeo’s 2023 findings, enhancing Dubai’s appeal as a leading global livability hub supported by high security standards, ensuring travelers can visit the city with peace of mind.

Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing Corporation, stated, “Travelers from around the world are looking for a safe, accessible destination. From families to thrill-seekers, business travelers to cultural explorers, all demographics have embraced Dubai’s diversity. Dubai has provided unique experiences not found anywhere else in the world. As consumer demands and trends evolve, we will continue to work to maintain the highest standards of offerings and services in the city, supported by feedback from Tripadvisor and other digital platforms as well as direct feedback from tourists visiting Dubai, to ensure a unique experience for visitors in Dubai.”

The city’s vibrancy and diversity, showcased by luxury and budget-friendly hotels and restaurants, various attractions, and cultural spaces that respect the Emirate’s heritage, have repeatedly recognized Dubai as the world’s favorite destination, ensuring visitors return. Dubai’s unique strategy has also significantly contributed to overall economic growth in tourism.

Dubai’s initiatives to ease entry, air connectivity, a globally recognized culinary scene, and unique quality of life have solidified its position as a top-tier destination. According to the latest data from the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, Dubai hosted 15.37 million international visitors between January and November 2023, a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2022. This success also aligns with the goals of Dubai’s Economic Agenda, D33, aiming to further solidify its position as one of the top three global cities for business and leisure and as the best city to visit, live, and work.
