The three-story mansion, built in the late 19th century in Selimiye Neighborhood, has been restored by the Metropolitan Municipality with support from the Provincial Directorate of Investment Monitoring and Coordination. At the opening ceremony, Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet Hilmi Güler emphasized that municipalities do not only carry out infrastructure work.
Pointing out that municipalities also work on superstructure projects, Güler said: “One of the most important examples of this is cultural and artistic activities. These projects both connect us with our past, creating a beautiful bridge, and allow us to plan for the future.”
Güler highlighted that historical buildings in Ordu are being gradually reopened to the public, thereby carrying the city into the future.
Referring to Selimiye Mansion, one of the most beautiful structures in the Altınordu district, Güler noted that it was restored with jewel-like precision: “Congratulations. I would like to congratulate all our colleagues who contributed to this effort. This will become a cultural center where new artists will be born.”
Following the speeches, guests attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony and toured the mansion. The restoration, completed in about a year, included replacing the ground and wooden floors, as well as numerous works executed according to the mansion’s original form, such as panelled, decorated, and ornamented ceilings and the production of authentic-style windows.
